Sofa TV Browser: a remote-friendly BrowseHere alternative
An Android TV browser follows BrowseHere's remote-control interaction design with its own implementation. The author reports using REA to inspect the BrowseHere APK and Claude to build Sofa; the repository documents APK releases, screenshots and current feature limits.
Requirements & limits
- Prerequisites: Android 7.0+ with Android System WebView; APKs are linked from GitHub releases. Source builds need the documented JDK/Android SDK or Nix environment.
- Attribution: The author's REA attribution is in the linked Reddit report, rather than a published REA evidence bundle; this is an author-reported mixed workflow.
- Limits: Tabs, reader mode, phone typing, translations and user scripts are listed as missing or planned. DRM playback and frame-rate switching depend on the TV and WebView.
- License: GPL-3.0-only; the README states that BrowseHere code, assets and text are not included. Third-party components retain their own notices.
