FastView-REA: a Rust reconstruction of Fast View 5
A Rust desktop reconstruction of Mekhanotronika Fast View 5 uses REA and Ghidra research to reproduce oscillogram analysis and relay-characteristic views. The project publishes behavioral specifications, factual indexes, screenshots and cross-platform builds, with explicit format and visual-fidelity gaps.
Requirements & limits
- Prerequisites: Source builds need the documented Rust toolchain; release archives target Linux, Windows and macOS. Linux needs GTK 3 and a Wayland or X11 session.
- Testing evidence: The README attributes the reverse engineering to REA and Ghidra 12.1.3. Its behavioral-identity and validation statements are author-reported, not an independent compatibility certification. Not run or reproduced for this catalog.
- Limits: Native .sto input lacks a supplied sample, and the egui interface is not pixel-identical to original GDI/MFC rendering; original bitmaps are replaced.
- License: Reconstruction code offers MIT or Apache-2.0. Embedded fonts and Intel-derived trigonometry keep separate licenses; the bundled FastView.fvb characteristic data remains original-vendor data.
