DiskLens: a WinDirStat-derived disk usage analyzer
A Rust/Tauri disk analyzer combines REA/Ghidra investigation of WinDirStat 2.5.0 with source-code ports of its treemap and color handling. Its documentation distinguishes binary-confirmed findings from source-derived algorithms and leaves several file actions and Windows integrations untested.
Requirements & limits
- Prerequisites: Requires Windows 10/11, Rust MSVC/Visual Studio build tools and Node.js for source builds; Mica styling needs Windows 11.
- Attribution: REA/Ghidra cross-checked the installed WinDirStat binary, while much algorithm work used its public source. This is not established as clean-room recovery of a closed program.
- Testing evidence: The author reports engine tests and drive scans, but new file-action routes, cleanup integrations and several dialogs are untested in the app. Fast MFT scanning is absent and hard links are counted repeatedly. Not run or reproduced for this catalog.
- License: README states GPL-3.0-or-later for DiskLens and credits GPL-2.0-or-later WinDirStat code ports; third-party components keep separate licenses.
