Agent decompilation: a byte-matching retrospective

Maurice Heumann describes replacing plausible-looking agent output with compiler-based checks of reconstructed functions, relocations, data and types. The retrospective reports 99% function presence and 83% of all functions byte-exact, while keeping the reconstruction code private.

Requirements and limitations

  • Author retrospective dated 2026-10-09; the reviewed article leaves the game unnamed.
  • The project uses the original compiler and binary as references; no public implementation or reproducible artifact is supplied.
  • Coverage figures and runtime success are author-reported, not independently reproduced.
  • A documented case study, not an available game port or an established REA integration.
