Tool

AssetStudio

Tool for exploring, extracting and exporting the assets and asset bundles of Unity versions 3.4 to 2022.1. It converts Texture2D and Sprite images to PNG, TGA, JPEG or BMP and AudioClip to MP3, OGG, WAV, M4A or FSB, with FSB-to-WAV conversion, and exports fonts, meshes as OBJ, text assets, shaders, movie and video clips and MonoBehaviour data as JSON; models export from the scene hierarchy, and Animators export to FBX with their bound AnimationClips. MonoBehaviour export asks for the folder holding the assemblies, such as Managed, or, for IL2CPP builds, the dummy DLLs that Il2CppDumper generates.

Requirements & limits

  • Prerequisites: Builds target .NET Framework 4.7.2, .NET Desktop Runtime 5.0 or .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0. Building needs Visual Studio 2022 or newer, and the native FBX exporter needs Autodesk's FBX SDK 2020.2.1. The latest release is v0.16.47 (2022-06-16), and the repository is archived on GitHub.
  • Limits: Loading asset bundles decompresses and reads them in memory, which can use a large amount of memory; the README suggests extracting them to a folder first and reading them from there.
  • License: The README states that neither the repository, the tool nor its owner is affiliated with, sponsored or authorized by Unity Technologies. MIT per LICENSE; the bundled texture decoders come from separately licensed open-source projects.
