Awesome Decomp Games

A generated, rated index of public game reconstruction projects: decompilations, disassemblies, static recompilations, source ports, engine remakes and browser ports. A daily job merges several upstream lists and registries with GitHub and decomp.dev metadata, drops dead links and rebuilds the README and website from data files. Useful for discovery; its scores are automated heuristics, not reviews.

Requirements and limitations

  • The reviewed README, generated 2026-10-16, reports 2,118 projects covering 1,829 games, with sections for 646 decompilations, 520 static recompilations, 230 source ports, 206 engine remakes, 107 disassemblies, 53 browser ports, tools, mods and 347 inactive entries. These are the list's own counts, not verified projects.
  • Each entry's 1–5 playability, completeness, activity and popularity sub-scores are computed by scripts/build.py from GitHub metadata, decomp.dev progress and description keywords. Projects their source list flags as AI-generated are marked ⚠️ and lose 0.2. A score or section is not a matching, completeness or runtime check; follow each project's own sources.
  • Entries are seeded from the listed upstream collections and registries plus data/additions.json and data/overrides.json. A scheduled GitHub Actions job runs daily at 03:17 UTC to refresh metadata, check links and browser-play URLs, and commit the regenerated files, so summaries can still lag the linked projects.
  • The list states that it hosts no ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files or game assets, and its contribution rules refuse links to them and repositories that ship game data; most listed projects need files from the user's own copy. Some browser entries are labeled as playing instantly without the user's files. The list does not document each site's rights basis, and this catalog did not review those sites.
  • The list and data are released under CC0 1.0 and the scripts and website code under MIT; linked projects and game screenshots keep their own rights. Two REA showcase repositories appear among the entries, but the list establishes no REA affiliation.
