Remade

The source repository of remade.wiki, a community-curated directory of open-source reimplementations of closed-source software, mostly creative, productivity and engineering applications. Each listing is a YAML record naming the original software, languages, platforms, license and self-reported status, compatibility and limitations, and the directory also tracks requests for software nobody has reimplemented yet.

  • A young directory: the repository was created on 2026-10-09, and its history reached 308 commits by the reviewed commit of 2026-10-19. Its catalog files hold 123 project records, 13 supporting tools, 2 suites and 379 Project Requests for software with no listed reimplementation yet; remade.wiki is built from these files.
  • Listings target closed-source originals, mostly desktop and web applications, with Adobe, Autodesk and Microsoft products frequent among them. By category there are 53 creative, 37 productivity and 22 engineering records, plus 5 operating-systems, 3 developer-tools, 2 other and 1 games record. Status and compatibility are self-reported: 78 records are experimental, 26 alpha, 13 beta, 5 stable and 1 planned, and 107 claim partial compatibility.
  • POLICY.md requires independently authored code without leaked or unauthorized source, binaries or assets, excludes forks, ports, launchers and mods of the original, and leaves clean-room claims to each project’s authors; Remade states it does not audit provenance or legality. Only one record mentions a clean-room process, so whether a listing relied on clean-room work, reverse engineering or public documentation must be checked at its own source.
  • The repository’s MIT license covers the directory’s code and data; listed projects keep their own licenses, from MIT and Apache-2.0 to GPL and AGPL, with one recorded as Unlicensed. The project’s own 2026-10-17 documentary audit of 119 entries left unreachable repositories and license conflicts unresolved and disclaims software, legal or compatibility certification. An independent directory; the reviewed source establishes no REA connection.
