# scvk: replacing SimCity 4's renderer with Vulkan

> scvk reconstructs SimCity 4's renderer interface as a native Vulkan DLL loaded through the game's GZCOM plugin system. It claims existing renderer class IDs and emulates the cIGZGDriver fixed-function API with pipeline state and shaders for terrain, buildings, lighting, textures and interface drawing.

## Requirements & limits

- **Limits:** SCGL cannot be installed concurrently because it claims the same renderer class ID; Intel graphics are untested.
