Tool

JEB Decompiler

PNF Software's commercial reverse-engineering platform for Android apps and native code, combining a Dalvik decompiler and Android debuggers with disassemblers and decompilers for x86, ARM, MIPS and RISC-V machine code. For APKs it decompiles multi-dex Dalvik bytecode to Java, reconstructs resources and obfuscated XML, cleans up obfuscated code with optimizers that decrypt content and undo reflection, and debugs Dalvik and native ARM or Intel code in one session, stepping from Dalvik into JNI methods. Modules in JEB Pro also decompile WebAssembly, Ethereum EVM contracts (to Solidity-like code), Siemens S7-300/400 PLC blocks and Nvidia SASS GPU code and analyze PDF documents, and its loaders read PE, ELF, Mach-O, Intel HEX and raw (headless) firmware images. The JEB API lets Java and Python scripts, back-end plugins and custom headless clients automate analysis, and JEB also exposes an MCP server for AI agents.

Requirements & limits

  • Prerequisites: Version at review: JEB 5.48, released 2026-10-07. Needs a 64-bit JDK 21+ (JDK 23 at most and Oracle or OpenJDK builds recommended); the GUI client runs on Windows, Linux (GTK) and macOS on x64 or arm64. Packages are per-user zip archives sent by email; license keys derive from machine identifiers.
  • License: Time-based commercial licenses only, none perpetual: JEB Android (per user, non-professional users, Android apps only), JEB Pro (per user, all modules), JEB Pro Floating (per seat) and JEB Pro OEM (per server, back-end or SaaS use). After a non-OEM subscription expires, existing JDB2 projects still open but new ones cannot be created; per the buy page, only Pro licenses work offline.
  • License: JEB Community Edition is free, with most disassemblers and file analyzers and the x86/x86-64 decompilers, but per the features matrix no Dalvik decompiler or debugger, headless launcher or offline use; the EULA sets separate terms for it. JEB Demo has all modules for evaluation but decompiles only part of the code, cannot save or load projects or use the clipboard, and has time-limited sessions that need an Internet connection.
  • Limits: Stated limits: RISC-V support lacks RV128, RVE, vector/SIMD extensions and floating-point decompilation; the S7 decompiler cannot process all MC7 code or S7-1200/1500 blocks; debugging apps that disallow it works on ARMv7 only; command-line Python scripts need a Pro or CE license.
