iCSee LocalMod: a stock-firmware camera control extension

An owner-authorized XM530V200 camera case uses REA/Ghidra to investigate native Sofia command handlers, then adds local control and Home Assistant integration while preserving stock drivers and recording. The source-only extension documents separate static, emulated-protocol and physical-device evidence.

Requirements & limits

  • Prerequisites: Tested only on one XM530V200 / IPG-X2-WQ-BL unit. There is no universal image or public flash installer; source builds need a compatible ARM toolchain and matching Dropbear crypto library.
  • Attribution: The documented investigation used REA 6.8.0 and Ghidra 12.1.4. Binary addresses are specific to the analyzed Sofia build; the project is stock firmware with additions, not OpenIPC or a full DVRIP implementation.
  • Testing evidence: The owner reports physical PTZ/LED/audio and restart/SD-recording checks. QEMU tests use fake backends and do not prove hardware portability. Not run or reproduced for this catalog.
  • Limits: The local bridge uses the existing device account over plain HTTP; the route-removal guard is not a firewall. Original additions are MIT, while stock firmware/drivers and third-party components retain their own rights.
