BFM-decomp: Brave Fencer Musashi matching decompilation

Documents an agent-assisted reconstruction of the USA PlayStation game with a pinned compiler and whole-binary SHA-1 gates. The verification recipe covers the main executable, resident engine and disc-loaded code modules, with explicit library and assembly exceptions.

Requirements and limitations

  • Requires an owned USA SLUS-00726 disc dump, Linux/WSL2, Python 3.12 and the documented pinned GCC 2.7.2/MIPS toolchain. Optional PsyQ SDK objects must be supplied separately; no disc, SDK or compiler package was downloaded in this review.
  • AGPL-3.0 applies to the project’s tools and documentation. src/NOTICE.md asserts no license over the reconstructed game code, whose original rights belong to Square/Square Enix; third-party components retain their own licenses.
  • The 218-binary matching contract is an upstream claim backed by its recipe and a recorded full run dated September 7, 2026. That log is for an earlier tree, not this reviewed HEAD. SDK/assembly exceptions and unfinished readability remain documented; public no-ROM CI audits and compiles but cannot perform the original-byte comparison. Nothing was built or run here; no REA integration is established.
