On the Viability of Requirements Generation from Code: An Experience Report
Studies a RAG-based, human-supervised pipeline for recovering requirements and code traces from two projects. It also tests deliberate generation of unimplemented requirements and requirements smells (potential quality issues), exposing verification and labeling difficulties.
Scope and limitations
The 188 generated requirements come from a student web application and Mattermost Desktop, using one model and PhD evaluators. Prompt choices, accumulated feedback and author-resolved labels affect validity. Findings concern this small experience study, not all code-to-requirements methods.
Why it fits this collection
Adds negative evidence and validation limits for recovering application specifications from code.
